- pretty good night’s sleep, with hardly any noise and no neighbours
- backtrack to busy town on my own
- Canadian Kevin caught me, then David and Eleanor – stayed ‘on the train’ till around 55km when I needed to eat (they were ‘cheating’ and had food in their pockets they were eating while riding)
- highway riding which was smooth and fast, though not particularly interesting
- lunch in a rubber plantation
- confused message at lunch about how much gravel there was and where it was!
- rode from lunch on my own
- gravel was pretty awful – still not feeling great so low on energy, with bad surface and lots of climbing
- met Max at 101km to hear only 2.5km of gravel left (yahoo!)
- in to the big town for a coke stop – coldest tonic in the country, delicious
- nearly at camp and found Canadian Kevin helping Essen with a flat tyre. Stopped to help, as did Caroline
- in to camp which is a nice location at Songon Park – allowed to camp on the grass under the trees (plan A had been in the car park so nice change)
- supposed to be TDA Foundation bike donation, but issue with the recipient so postponed pending resolution
- bus day tomorrow so sat by waterside for post-dinner chat and wine making for a ‘late night’ at 2030!
