Christmas training rides – week one

I’ve brought my bike to Spain to enjoy the relatively pleasant weather so I’m trying to get out every day. So far so good – slowly increasing the distance each day and getting used to the fact that this part of Spain is somewhat hillier than the New Forest (though nothing like as hilly as Mongolia, Russia or the ‘Stans)…!

It’s amazing having come down a reasonably steep hill can keep you motivated to go forward, and not turn back at any point in a ride. It’s even funnier when you look at the final profile and discover that you ended up climbing a hell of a lot further by carrying on than going back… oh well – hills are kinda the point of training here…

Thursday

After so much ‘up’ yesterday I decided I was going to take a less hilly route today. Didn’t work out that way – still ended up as high, just got there more directly making for a harder ride, exacerbated by the fact that much of it was on gravel…

Going to have a day off tomorrow – Christmas day and all that 🙂
