Back to black – pavement that is (stage 54)

Our homestay hostess turned up at 0530 this morning with rice porridge, fresh bread and homemade blueberry jam, all of which was delicious.

Andreas then picked us up in the van to take us make to the compound our bikes were stored in for a quick rider’s meeting before we got on our way around 0620.

Day seven of seven – stage 54 rider notes

I was the quickest up the climb, but on the descent Grant and Charlie caught up with me and we rode the rest of the day together making amazing progress and getting into the hotel in just on four hours of riding time (plus a 15 min lunch stop) to have us at the hotel by 1100 with an average speed of just over 25km/h.

A few jobs first – tent dry, bike washed, beer, ice cream and chips for second lunch and by then the lunch van was in with our permanent bags and I had clean clothes to put on after a decent shower!

In the afternoon I took a wander round town before an early dinner a farewell drinks with those riders who are leaving us here in Osh – Richard (the first), Friedier, Richard (the second) and (Australian) Jackie – which if nothing else will make the names a little easier 😉

If you’re wondering about the somewhat circuitous route – we had to go round the end of Uzbekistan…!

Opps – forgot to take a photo out my hotel window – I promise it’s nothing interesting though, just a carpark 😉
