A quiet day in Osh (rest day)

Today has been a very quiet day – just what was needed after seven consecutive riding days, several of which were really very tough!

I slept in late, had a great hotel breakfast and helped a couple of people with bike maintenance.

Later in the morning a group of us wandered back to the market where I bought (yet another) pair of new jandles after the Almaty replacements fell apart.

This afternoon I’ve been resident on a couch in the hotel sitting area – initially doing some work and catching up with company accounts and for the last few hours getting the last weeks worth of blog posts finished and uploaded.

This week coming is shorter than the last at only six days, and as you can see several of them are relatively short however that’s to counter the fact that we’re going to be climbing. A lot! and very high! with the first of our 4000+ metre passes and the highest of the tour in the mix. We also cross into Tajikistan on our fourth day and it’s been reported that this can be a lengthy process.

An overview of the coming week

In case you’re wondering the 23km stage 57 is to allow time to acclimatise and to get us up to the Tajik border ready to cross over the next morning.

It’s just gone 1930 here and I need to get packed, showered and into bed ready for the week ahead. I sincerely doubt that I’ll have any connectivity over this coming week, and may not even have WiFi on the next couple of rest days so don’t be surprised if you don’t hear from me for a couple of weeks (even real ones ;-)).
